… in which I try to convince you to watch my favourite TV shows and films.
Don’t flick the flick! Justice for the Buffy movie
Grimm: a paint-by-numbers cop drama – with a magic detective and mythical beasts
Friday Night Lights: the gentle show about high school football that launched Hollywood stars
Mariah’s World: utterly unrelatable and completely fabulous reality TV
Twin Peaks: The Return – a worthy reboot of David Lynch’s oddball masterpiece
Fatal Instinct: the lewd, kitschy, erotic-thriller spoof that gets better as you get older
Little Women has many film adaptations but only one gave Jo the ending she deserves
I once would have been embarrassed by my love for Wayne’s World – but no longer

Folly Issue 002 - 2024, second edition
The sell out Issue 002 of Folly builds on the sexy, strange and humorous tone set by the first issue of this literary journal. This is high art, mixed with high drama. It’s a coffee table book, holiday reading material, and a cross between a Victorian gossip rag and legit literature.
And it’s been so popular we’ve done a reprint, in a short limited run. Issue 002 contains a variety of short stories, short fiction and short poems designed for people with short attention spans who don’t mind the occasional swear word.
Issue 002 opens with Greymouth artists Sam Ducker-Jones on the cover and inside flaps with original art by Kerrie Hughes. Interviews with Aaron Hape, Dame Gaylene Preston.
Stories and poems by Allan Ramsay, Bernard Steeds, Michelle Taylor, Lila Pitcher, Rowan Taigel, Emma Gilkison and Laura Borrowdale, among others.
Artworks by Kerrie Hughes, Natasha Wright, Loren Marks, Emily Hartley Skudder, Damien Kurth, Claudia Kogachi, Russ Flat, Charlotte Robertson, Brittany Walker-Smith, Debbie Harris, Lucas Grogan.
